International Dance Event Detail

Lava Hot Springs, Idaho Dances of Universal Peace

Event Description

A Mystic Dance Caravan Retreat.

Come celebrate harmony and movement with the Dances of Universal Peace in Lava Hot Springs, Idaho. This year we are coming back to this lovely town full of hot springs and a blossoming spiritual community in southern Idaho. This year our dance event is in July when camping is great so we’ll be dancing in our tent. Lots of camping spots are nearby, and the town is full of great small motels for those who like a comfy bed. So, come enjoy community in song and music for four days.

We’ll be dancing in our 30′ tent.

About the dance

The Dances of Universal Peace are a powerful practice to find our true joyous being in community. These simple dances are inspired by the many spiritual traditions of the world. No experience or partner needed! Each dance and song is taught as we go.

The dance is magic because it can’t be done without you! Finally a practice that doesn’t have you as a mere spectator. You will be right in the circle, a group of loving humans creating music while we move.

Yes… the camp is very inexpensive. This is because we love what we do. This is not about making money, but about coming together. plus, we don’t have to pay for our tent location, lodging/camping/food is on your own — and we need you!

Setup is on Wednesday July 26th, with take down Sunday/Monday. See the schedule below.

Here’s what our dance tent looks like… all set up and ready for dancers!

In the Dances of Universal Peace you are the music. We all sing and move together and that’s what creates the magic. Nothing needed from the outside.

This is us.

Location

We’ll be at the campsite early on Wednesday the 26th for setting up and so everyone can get settled. First dance on Thursday evening, and last dance on Sunday morning. Keep watch on our website for more details.

Food and Lodging

We’ll be dancing in our tent this year in Lava. Food and lodging is not included in the retreat price, but we have great places to camp and can help you set up. It will be nice and warm in Lava in July so camping is totally doable at this time of year.

Camping is free. For those who like comfort, and being close to hot pools, there are plenty of hotels in town.

Food will be on your own. Bring your camping gear and favorite eats. Good restaurants and grocery stores in town.

Motels

Rooms are not included in the retreat package, so make sure you have your motel reservations set up if you aren’t camping. The Chamber of Commerce website for Lava has listings of all the local motels. http://www.lavahotsprings.org

There is a KOA campground with electric and water where lots of our folks like to stay. For those more rugged folks we have plenty of free camping space near the tent. When you register make sure you are getting the KOA in downtown Lava near on the river’s edge: https://riversedge-rv.com/ (208) 285-7110

The motel complex that used to be called Auro Soma, with the big private hot pool, is now the Lava hotel. https://thelavahotel.com/

Musicians

As you arrive at camp please let us know about your musicianship! We coordinate experienced leaders into our dance sessions, often on the fly. We’ll also have a dance/music jam in the afternoons. We want to know how to help you in your local circle!
