Campaign for 2012
We need your help! While Leaders Guild fees are the main flow of funding that sustains our work, these fees fall short of what we need to fully achieve our mission and goals. Here is a list of particular areas where we are currently seeking contributions for year 2012. Please help nourish and sustain the Dances of Universal Peace by making a special gift to support one or more of these initiatives. Thank you!
Leaders Guild Development
Translations of Key Communications Target: $2,000
Goal: To support translation of quarterly e-newsletters into Spanish, German, Russian and Portuguese
For the first time in its 25 year history, DUP International in 2011 began regular translation of key direct communications with Leaders who speak other than English. Our quarterly e-newsletters and mentor bulletins are the essential means we have to build cohesion, direction and common purpose among Leaders Guild members. Writing, translating and disseminating these communications via Constant Contact email service is time-consuming and entails ongoing costs. You can view the translations of our newsletters at newsletterhome.
Translations of Key Resources Target: $2,000
Goal: Administrative support to coordinate translations, post articles to the IN website and creation of Constant Contact e-newsletters in multiple languages
The Dances of Universal Peace have spread to many parts of the world and are taught in several languages, and yet many of our important teaching resources exist in English only. Working with our regional partners, DUP International has had the Leaders Guild Guidelines and the Mentoring Path translated into Spanish, German and Russian. We need to continue to translate key teaching materials into these languages. We have recently posted the Leaders Guild Guidelines and other key resources on the DUP International website in Spanish, Portuguese and Russian. We hope soon to post materials in German.
Building Our Resource Library Target: $4,000
Another major area is continuing to add to our on-line resource library for Dance leaders worldwide. This includes adding dance write ups and recordings to that area of the library. We need to create ways to add materials in languages other than English and to enable access for those Leaders who need to be able to reach the materials. For instance, a Spanish translation of the Foundation Dances and Walks Manual is nearly complete. We also have dance write ups now available in Dutch, Russian and German. Funds in this area will help us complete scanning and/or reformatting of materials, transfer to the web and promulgation through ongoing Leader Guild communications.
Mentor Development
Mentor Forum Target: $2,500
The Guidance Council has for some years looked for ways to engage Mentors with key and sometimes difficult issues that arise in mentoring. Toward this end, we propose implementing an on-line Mentor Forum. This discussion group would be password-protected so that frank discussions around issues common to Mentors and Mentor-in-Training can be addressed. The Guidance Council will frame and monitor discussions taking place and introduce new topics as needed.
Organization Development
Leaders Guild Financial Hardship Target: $6,000
Dances of Universal Peace International relies on annual Leader Guild fees paid by each leader to help us fund our work. Economic conditions in certain countries and, sometimes personal financial hardship, prevent some Leaders from being able to pay their annual Leaders Guild Fee. We have therefore established a Fees Support Fund to help us extend services to all, regardless of ability to pay. Presently we estimate at least 200 of our 1,200 leaders worldwide are in this situation. Our goal in this area is to raise $6,000 to cover the cost of Leaders Guild fees for 200 dance leaders.
Leaders Guild Rejuvenation Project Target $3,500
In 2011 DUP International instituted new position to help us in a number of overlapping areas to replace the former “MTG Secretariat” role. Our Community Coordinator Sky Majida Roshay is helping us build relationships with and among the Leaders Guild members and mentors, researching and improving the information in our data base, facilitating communication, and in general providing member services. In 2011 we enhanced the Community Coordinator role in a special project to track down all Dance leaders with whom we have lost communication and re-enroll them as fee-paying members of the Leaders Guild. We are seeing considerable progress from this special project and wish to continue it in 2012.
